Many times my friends, family members, husband and children have gone out of their way to do things to help me out. I always try to be appreciative; whether it is a simple “thank you” or trying to do something nice in return. However, with our busy lifestyles, there are times when we just don’t think about it, (until later) and we can’t come up with any ideas to show our appreciation.
Here are some great ideas to help get you started:
(1) Simply say “thank you”. The easiest way to show your appreciation is just by saying, “thank you.” Acknowledging someone’s assistance can go a long way.
(2) Send a letter/note or greeting card telling them what an impact their support and help made in your life. There are hundreds of greeting cards on-line, even (for those of us who aren’t able to get out much or have a busy lifestyle).
(3) Gift baskets are a great way to surprise someone who has done something nice for you. You can personalize them with a theme and include things like: lottery tickets, crossword puzzles, books, lotions, movie tickets, DVDs, popcorn, hot cocoa, mugs; etc. The possibilities are endless and the receiver is sure to feel your appreciation!
(4) Give gifts of interest. If they collect specific items, then give them a gift to add to their collection. If they admire a certain author, maybe provide them with a book or two by the author. If they are a fan of a particular movie or television series, maybe provide them with items or memorabilia with their favorite characters; etc. on them (like notebooks, address books, coffee mugs; etc.)
(5) Give them a cuddly stuffed animal with a little note attached. A few ideas would be:
A lion - note attached would say, “I’d be lion if I said I didn’t appreciate all you do for me!”
A monkey – note attached would say, “Without you, I’d go apes!”
A bear – note attached would say, “I’m so beary glad that we are friends!”
A bird – note attached would say, “You always put a song in my heart and a smile on my face.”
(6) Everyone loves baked goodies! Return their kindness with food or baked goods. If you’re not much of a cook, you can treat them to dinner, or lunch. You may even purchase gift certificates to their favorite restaurant, coffee shop or bakery.
(7) Give
