Opposite sex not allowed: Assessing girls / guys night out

I myself have never truely understood the importance of having same sex friends until this year. I have been the girl who was always hanging out with the guys, just because they were less catty, and they didn't cause drama like the girls did. So I never really had any close girls to be with. I thought this would be to my advantage, because I wouldn't have drama to deal with. But this turned out to be wrong. After I turned 14, I started to have the normal teenage problems. I've always had a best friend that was a male, but once I would try and talk about something that was troubling me, he wouldn't completely understand. He would give me comfort, and tell me I would be okay, but that's simply not enough when your a girl. You need another girl there to talk with you, and have the SAME understanding situations and advice.

Also, there was the issue of puberty, and female problems. You can't talk to a guy about those things, because they don't have those things, so all they can do is listen and act like they understand. With a girl, you can ask her if this has happened to her before, if she thinks its normal, and so on.

I also think that if you are a woman in a serious relationship, that you need those nights when you go out with the girls and don't talk to your boyfriend for that night. You need that time with your girls to let out all your feelings that you can't just tell your boyfriend. You also need to feel that independence when you are away from him. You need to have fun, be yourself, and have a crazy and fun time with your girls. Your girls are there with you all the time. If you fight with them, they come back. If you fight with a boyfriend, and breakup, he can leave and never come back.

You need to keep the friends by your side the longest, and make sure you KEEP that connection, even if it means having an ALL GIRLS night once a month.
