Poetry: Sin

by Gerard Quain

Created on: October 10, 2010

Where does it begin or end

This concept of sin

Am I wrong as a mortal man

To want, to need, to feel, to touch

Am I supposed to cut myself off

To subdue my natural urges

To fall foul of religious purges

To become what I am not

Will my prayers fall on deaf ears

If continue to be a mortal man

To want, to need, to feel, to touch

This concept of sin

Has become a cage

Not gilded but never the less framed

To defeat my heart

To corrupt my soul

Not allowing me to be loved

I still want

I still need

I will touch

I will feel

This concept of sin

Was originated in the hearts of crooked men
