The Galaxy Cookie Crumble is a fairly new addition to the Galaxy range; Galaxy chocolate is absolutely delicious but it is rather 'samey' due to the fact that there are very few variations available on the standard smooth bar. The Cookie Crumble takes the basic Galaxy and adds a whole new dimension simply by adding pieces of chocolate cookie into the mix.
The bar is delightful, absolutely delicious. The addition of the small cookie pieces completely transform the chocolate bar into something completely different, without actually altering the bar itself too much.
As is usual, the bar is segmented into several pieces to make eating it a simple and very pleasant experience. From the very first mouthful you'll likely be amazed by the wonderfully rich flavour of the chocolate, while the cookie pieces give the bar a slightly granular and very crunchy texture.
Popping a piece of Galaxy Cookie Crumble into your mouth you will discover that the chocolate is smooth and extremely rich tasting, as with all Galaxy bars the chocolate does melt very quickly (far quicker than, say, Cadburys) and as it does you will be left with a satisfying sensation of having eaten more chocolate than you actually have. The bar itself is the perfect size as any larger the chocolate would become sickly, of course Galaxy Cookie Crumble is also available in the bigger 150g bars but it is the standard 45g bar that I have eaten the most often so I am concentrating on this one.
The chocolate itself is very sweet, admittedly the cookie pieces do change the flavour of the chocolate somewhat but it is for the better due to the fact that the cookie seems to enhance the richness and sweetness of the chocolate. The creaminess of the chocolate comes through stronger, which in part is due to the dramatic difference in textures between the actual chocolate and the cookie pieces. As the cookies are also chocolate flavoured, they do not stand out terribly well in terms of flavour but I suspect this is the whole point of the bar as them simply serve to bring out the rich taste of the Galaxy chocolate.
The cookie pieces are very small, but there are a huge amount of them in the bar. Each segment of chocolate seems packed with crunchy cookie and by far the best way to eat this bar is to suck away the chocolate first of all, then crunch up all the cookie pieces. This will give you the best of both worlds as you will be able to enjoy the richness of the famous Galaxy chocolate, but afterwards have the added fun of crunching the chocolate flavoured cookie just like a biscuit.
The one and only criticism I would have about this wonderful chocolate bar is that it's exceedingly sickly after a time, the cookie pieces make the chocolate much sweeter than a standard bar of Galaxy and although this is fine to begin with it is very easy to over-do it. It is the wonderful change in texture that makes this chocolate so very moreish, Galaxy is known worldwide for being an extremely smooth chocolate so it's quite a shock to the system to find Galaxy that has 'bits' in it - but once you get over this hurdle you are bound to adore the unusual flavour the cookie/chocolate combination provide, and will more than likely find this bar to be far more interesting than standard Galaxy.
