Poetry: Mine

by Irina Diaconescu

Created on: October 09, 2010

It’s not perfect, but it’s ours.

Sometimes sweet, sometimes it sours.

No, we’re not guaranteed tomorrow,

But tonight, forget the sorrow.

Touch my skin and breathe me in,

Let me be your secret sin.

Only I know your darkest secret

Trust me baby, from me you can’t keep it.

I know what you want, know what you need

Only I know what can make you complete.

You avert your eyes, so I can’t look in,

But it’s too late baby, I’ve already seen…

And I want to revel in it, want to marvel at you

There was absolutely nothing I wouldn’t have done for you

I thought I was late, turns out I was right on time

I promise you, your heart will forever be mine.

And even though we’re no longer together,

I’ll think of you during the cold, unforgiving weather.

And admit it or not, you will think of me…

Too bad that you and I truly were never meant to be.
