Poetry: Good-bye, my love

Old Habits Die Hard

It was Twilight who kissed me goodnight, not you...
But the memory of your lips still lingered.
Like a bullet lodged in the back of my head,
I couldn't forget nor ignore you.

Tears ran for the first time in a long time,
Memories soaked in a salty solution of emotion and pain.
I hate to let memories die,
But they rolled like tiny boulders as they plummeted into the abyss.

I refuse to let this end abrupt,
I refuse to just stand by and watch,
I refuse to believe,
I refuse to forget.

Conditions change as do the seasons,
And I know that people do as well.
But for now I know,
And I've yet to change.

Nothings the same without you,
Happiness isn't just a block away.
Like a lost puppy I searched,
But like an old dog, I remained loyal to you.

I cant decide whats best for you,
And I cant decide whats best for me.
But for now my heart lays next to yours,
I'm just waiting for it to roll over towards mine.
