Las Vegas is an exciting town with lots of sights to see, places to go, and things to do. Here are some quick tips to help you get the most out of your trip to Las Vegas:
1. Wear extremely comfortable walking shoes. There is so much to do and see in Las Vegas and the majority of all of the action is found right there on the Las Vegas Strip. It's easy to misjudge the distance between the casinos and shopping malls when looking at a map. Everything in Vegas is farther than you think it will be and requires a lot of walking. Make sure to wear your most comfortable walking shoes whenever you plan to walk from place to place.
2. Always call ahead and make a reservation. Restaurants in Vegas get crowded very quickly. Many restaurants are only open during select days of the week. Some are only open seasonally. Your best bet is to call ahead and make a reservation. This will give you an opportunity to find out the hours of operation and will ensure that you will be seated promptly upon arrival. Many of the hotels in Vegas offer this service for free through their Concierge Desk.
3. Drink lots of water. It may not always seem like it, but Las Vegas is in the middle of a desert. Even in the winter months, the air is dry and arid and it's easy to become dehydrated while you're walking around and enjoying all of the sights. Carry bottled water with you and purchase more whenever you need to. You can find inexpensive bottled water at CVS and Walgreens, both located right there on the Las Vegas Strip.
4. Take a small amount of cash with you. Some places in Las Vegas will only accept cash. You may find some smoothie stands and souvenir stores whose credit card payment systems are down. It's always a good idea to carry a little cash for purchases and for tipping when appropriate.
5. Park for free at hotels and casinos. Almost all of the hotels and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip offer free parking. Some even provide free valet service (gratuity not included). Most of the shopping centers and movie theaters have parking fees. If you're going to shop at any of the area malls, park at the nearest casino and walk to the shopping center. This will save you some money and get you some extra exercise.
