Green Eggs and Google Instant

Would you like your Google Instant if it came in Box?  Would you like it if it came with a fox?  Would you like it here or there?  Would you like it anywhere?  Do you like Google Instant Sam I am?

In case you do not know what Google Instant is, let me fill you in.  Google Instant is a brand new tool from Google that uses predictive software to assist you in finding what you are looking for before you even type in the whole subject line.

♦  Where will you find Google Instant?  ♦

You do not have to download it.  It isn’t even a toolbar or add on.  It does not come in a box; nor with a Fox.  Google Instant is already part of all the Google homepages searches.  You have likely been using it and not even noticed.

♦  What are the Benefits of Google Instant?  ♦

The biggest benefit of Google Instant is speed.  While it is queuing up your search results it is getting ready for your next searches.  This makes Google much faster.  It may only be fractions of a second faster but nonetheless this pre-fetching makes for a significantly faster Google at machine speeds.

It is also useful if you are not sure exactly what you want but have an idea.  Instant will automatically call up all the results as you type in your phrases.  This means that you can scan your results as you type in and even see exactly what you are looking for before you are done typing.

♦  Are Search Terms Less Important with Google Instant?  ♦

No, search terms may even be more important.  Good searches will always get you quality information and the better your search terms the better and more refined your search will become.  If you are unsure of what to search for the predictive capabilities can give you some suggestions and help the process along but  better search terms still yield better results.

♦  Blacklisting in Google Instant.  ♦

Since Google Instant will pull up popular results as people type in data there is a chance that some of the search material could bring up results that are not what people are looking for and more risqué than PG-13.  To combat this Google created the blacklist of terms that it will not search for.  Some people are up in arms about this but it is not censorship.   You can still type in the whole term, hit enter and get whatever results you desire.  It simply does not bring any data up until you do hit enter to keep people who do not wish to view the data from seeing it.

♦  Do you not like your Google Instant?  ♦

Maybe you do not like your Google Instant in your house.  Maybe you do not like it with a mouse.  Well sorry to say it doesn’t matter.  Many people are thrilled about Google Instant and it allows Google much more flexibility with their data transfer.  Because of this, like it or not, Google Instant is here to stay.
