How to build a green-white Magic: The Gathering deck on a budget

Following the examples of nature, you grow strong with green and temper that strength with the order and wisdom provided by white. Combined, Green and White complement each other. On the one hand, green's attack specialty- creatures with high power and toughness who often have trample, and the best mana-boosting spells available. White, meanwhile, creates a strong defense using prevention and life gain while taking advantage of creatures with versatile abilities such as first strike or flying. Creating an effective Green and White deck on a budget is as much of a challenge as any financially restricted deck construction, but is still capable of putting the pressure on your opponent.

Green's mana-gaining capabilities will be your most useful asset, allowing you to pay for those moderate and high mana costs so prevalent in the more easily obtained green and white cards. For their costs, green creatures tend to be bigger in both power and toughness than a creature costing the same converted mana in another color, whereas white creatures tend to be smaller but have flying or first strike to open up additional strategies for you. With this color combination you will be forced to rely on creatures, which is a common enough issue with any deck, but where other colors have alternative routes to victory, you will primarily use one of 3 methods to achieve victory: Weenies, Bullies, or life-gaining win condition (if you can afford or trade for Test Of Endurance).

Since you will be relying on creatures and both colors have methods of preserving their creatures, it's a safe bet that you will be investing in creatures with protection and regeneration so that you can resist the common tactic of removing creatures using damage or by destroying them. It's good to have some creatures who are excellent blockers, such as the spiders of green and other creatures with reach. White also has good options with commons that offer first strike and flying. Anyone who has built a collection of cards up will be happy to let you take some of these cards off their hands since they will have more than they will ever use. Worst case scenario you could be paying a dime per card- do not get ripped off paying a quarter per common, that adds up quickly.

Your best bet when building a cheap green-white deck is to look at the abilities of the creatures you are thinking of adding and finding a good balance of weenies (small creatures used as expendable attackers or blockers)vs bullies (large creatures
