How to build a Magic: The Gathering mono-red burn deck on a budget

You're the headstrong, fiesty type. When you get a pocketful of money, it begins to smolder, forcing you to spend it immediately. Unfortunately, to make money to buy magic cards, you have to spend time doing the thing you hate most: Not playing magic! Despite the popular belief that you can't fight the money, you're determined to emphasize one of the important facts of life in the universe: EVERYTHING BURNS! You aren't an angry person...just passionate. Or maybe you ARE ticked off, but whatever the case we are putting all our dragon eggs in one basket, and lighting that baby on fire.

Burn decks typically operate like a flamethrower: Expend fuel, see dead people. Rinse with napalm, repeat. Your typical cheap burn deck has little or no choice but to rely on a little bit of cannon fodder to stop cheap creatures from running all over you.Red's creatures are not good defenders: They are bloodthirsty savages, devestating elementals and goblins that are *quite* insane. Red is all out attack, keeping foes on guard constantly and wearing them down with spells that quickly damage their life total or can be turned on their more helpful creatures.

In magic, card advantage (having more cards ready to cast than your enemy) is extremely important, and typically burn decks suck for card advantage. The up-side is that burn spells can't be blocked and do a great job of dealing with low-toughness threats. Many burn spells are also instants, so you can hit your targets any time. Basically, they accomplish the task of eliminating opponents in the most blunt-ouch, actually that's very sharp- er, that is to say, obvious method, while simultaneously providing control of most of the cheaper costing creatures. Long-standing staples such as Raging Goblin and Shock (2 damage for 1 mana? sign me up!) are almost a no-brainer. In fact, Raging Goblin probably is literally a no-brainer, yet I digress (for your amusement) again. Speed is everything; you hit fast, you hit hard, and most likely leave a smoking crater. This means picking out spells that don't cost too much. I see you pointing at lava axe, and I'm not saying that isn't a good idea- The more damage you can get in one spell, the more effective your card advantage will be...however, you have to spend more mana the greater the damage is. When you can find cards that give you a better turnover than 1-for-1 on your cost-to-damage, it's always a plus. Just remember, by 5th turn, you opponent might be swinging at you with dragons- an inexpensive
