SOUP: A Boost to Your Health and Economy
In today’s economy we are all looking for ways to stretch the dollar and make two out of it. It’s not easy but despite our struggles we are one of the most wasteful societies on earth. I remember my mother and my grandmother scowling and saying “Waste not, want not,” when we didn’t eat what was on our plates or they would catch us tossing out those little dabs of this or that left over from the meal when we were the ones on kitchen duty. They would tell us, “Don’t throw that out. We can make soup and make another meal. Don’t waste.” They were right. You can make delicious soups from leftovers and soup is good for you. What is even more, kids like soups and it is a good way to get them to eat their veggies. Soup is also a great way to use up those leftovers and it is a good way to stretch that food budget. Waste not, want not. Turn those little dabs of this and that into a healthy soup and another meal.

They are also very beneficial when it comes to household economics. Soups are a good way to tighten that food budget and still have healthy, flavorful and filling meals.

Of course using all fresh is best and I do that too but like most of us these days I can’t afford to waste so I turn those leftovers into soup too. In fact, I have a pot of soup made from leftovers on simmering right now and I am going to enjoy a bowl of it in just a few minutes. The aroma coming from my kitchen smells delicious and is making me very hungry.
I think a vegetable soup is probably the most beneficial kind and it is usually vegetables that I have stashed in those small containers and stashed in the
