Verse #1
He’s a wolf underneath his casual suit
He smiles while hiding his fangs
He speaks all the things my heart longs to hear
But I’m not going through this again
Honey soaked words drip from his tongue
And collect in a pool on the floor
And in it I see his true reflection
And in it I see what I’m in for
Bridge
I closed that door such a long time ago
And here he is sticking in his toe
Standing on his flimsy soapbox
Ready to collapse as he still talks
Chorus
I say
Go on and tell me something
I won’t believe
Try and sell me on something
I won’t believe
I won’t believe you.
Verse #2
He throws out visions of white and gold
And promises a different man
He lassos a star and captures the moon
And they float in the palm of his hand
Love and trust and forgiveness
He tosses out these soothing words
But I know they are made of glass
Ready to break off into shards
Bridge
I closed that door such a long time ago
And here he is sticking in his toe
Standing on his flimsy soapbox
Ready to collapse as he still talks
Chorus
I say
Go on and tell me something
I won’t believe
Try and sell me on something
I won’t believe
I won’t believe you
I’ll never believe you
