Eye liner is possibly one of the most underestimated tools in make-up. It can create a whole range of looks even when it is applied on its own. This means that eye liner is one of the most important things a lady can have in her make-up bag. 

Eye liner can be used to create not only different looks but also different illusions. It can make the eyes look bigger, smaller, more defined and even more awake.

Bigger.

If you want to use eye liner to make your eyes look bigger then you will need to practise.

Apply eyeliner close to your bottom lashes. Start at the outer corner of your eye and the line should stop at the centre of your eye when you are looking in the mirror. If you really want to make your eyes pop then you need to bring the eye liner a little further out at the outer corners of your eyes. Do not worry about making the line too thick. If this happens hen you can simply remove or blend it with a cotton bud. 

Next you will need to line above your upper lashes. Keep it as close to the lashes as possible and take it right out to the edge. Smudge and blend with a Q tip for a softer look. If you want to add a little more drama then you can add a little flick at the side of your top lashes.

More defined.

Eye liner can be excellent for making eyes look vibrant and dramatic. If you want to achieve this look then you need to practise carefully. You can only really create this look with brown or black eye liner.If you use different colours such as green or lilac it can look a little strange. 

Start by applying your eye liner according to the instructions above. Then apply eye liner inside the rim of your top and bottom eye lashes. This will give your eyes some real definition and drama. This is not recommended if you have small or hooded eyes because it will make them look smaller. But if you have larger or medium sized eyes then this look could be for you.

Liquid.

Liquid eye liner is a great way to add impact to your eyes. But it is notoriously hard to apply. 

Just use the tip of the liquid eyeliner, this is easier to handle and even though you will only get a thin line, you only need a thin line and you can easily build it up for a more dramatic appearance.

Start at the inner corner of your eye very close to your lashes and draw a thin line to the outer corner. Once you get to the outer corner of your eye, draw a small flick diagonally upwards.
