The uplifting, energetic qualities of natural sunlight are indisputable; as are numerous health benefits derived from regular exposure to the sun, and the subsequent production of Vitamin D on the skin.
There are actually five forms of Vitamin D: D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, but the most important for our bodies is D2 ( ergocalciferol ) and D3( cholecalciferol). Being a fat-soluble vitamin, it needs fat to be absorbed. While Vitamin D3 can be manufactured in the body, in the presence of sunlight on skin, D2 can be obtained from fortified foods or vitamin supplementation.
