Millions of women all over the world still pay their hairdressers to style their hair whether it is for a special event or just everyday. And whilst they may be good at it they certainly charge a fortune for it. Styling your hair at home will save you time and money and all it will take is a little practice.

Blow drying.

An alarming amount of women will not blow dry their own hair. They would rather pay their hairdresser to do it for them! And whilst any hair dresser will tell you that blow drying is an art form. It is an easy to learn art form.

Blow dry for smoothness.

If you want your hair to look as though it has been straightened when in fact all you have done is blow dry it then you need to take your time. The first thing you should know is that you need to wait until your hair is at least 70% dry before you blow dry it. This will help to minimise the damage caused by the blow dryer. Always use the blow dryer on the lowest heat setting and apply some heat protection serum before you begin.

Part the hair into six sections and clip up the sections that you are not blow drying. Take a round, natural bristled vent brush and gently pull it through the hair. Keep the nozzle on the brush and make sure that the nozzle is pointing downwards. This will help the cuticle to lie flat making the hair look shinier. Repeat this with all of the other sections and finish with a blast of cool air from the dryer to help add shine and set your style.

Curling.

This is another thing that women would often rather pay their hairdresser for.

You must always curl dry hair. Do not attempt to use curling tongs on wet hair because it will cause so much damage to your hair even with heat protection serum. Depending on the size of curls you would like, take small or large sections of your hair and pin them up to your head. Wind the curlers around the hair starting at the bottom and work your way up. Leave for a few seconds and then unwind the hair.

Straightening.

Part your hair into four  or six sections and leave one section down. Pin the rest to the top of your head ready for later. Straighten by starting at the top of the hair and working right the way down to the tips. Repeat this process with all of the other sections.
