Outer Space Speck

Without a second of hesitation, a speck slithered up a chilled glass, fizzing with frothy red effervescence, while humans kicked their heels at the Party Nights dance club. In all, two glasses sat at his disposal. Each looked equally as cool and inviting as the other. Their contents were fresh. Their ice was plump. Condensation freckled and slid down their curvaceous crystalline walls. Vying not to waste a single moment, the speck, having appeared from the table underside, chose the glass closest to the wooden rim to slip into, without pause, under the most discreet of fashion. Of course, none of this really mattered - as far as timing goes that is - for no one was likely to spot “Speck” anyway, him being a mere speck and all.

Speck had but a few cilia to cool at this early stage of his baby alien life. The transparent cubes completely chilled each immediately upon his swig-pool entrance.

Comforting his stomach, despite its diminutive size, would require more effort than soothing his cilia, however. Albeit infants of most species view self-nourishment as primary life objectives, Speck, feeling no different, fared exceptionally desperate to engage. It seemed eons had passed since last he'd partaken. Settling amidst gigantic icy rocks, his miniscule membranes hastily suckled ounces of red pigment from the beverage into his alien baby belly.

Although the contents in the glass quickly mutated from dark red to light pink, Alyssa, once reunited with her cocktail, never noted the change. It seemed she, as humans tend to do, accepted that melting ice indubitably turns mixtures pale, and thus, attributed her cocktail’s paling to this perception. To that end, down the hatch went the beverage, just as quickly as Alyssa and Devin sashayed back to their seats from the dance floor.

What a wild ride for an alien speck! If only he had not separated from his swarm, an experienced alien invader would have warned him about the hollowing journey from mouth to esophagus and eventually to human stomach.

It mattered not for long, however, since the voyage ended quickly. Moreover, in addition to relief Speck enjoyed from completing the wild dive, his destination presented him a bonanza of red stuff to eat. Red stuff here. Red stuff there. Red stuff floated everywhere! Elated Speck could not wink an eye without seeing red stuff!

Oh... Sorry! Might have forgotten to make things clear regarding Speck’s infatuation with red stuff and about why
