Gender equality can be described as the goal to achieve the equality of woman and man by ensuring that all women have equal opportunity to develop their talents. As we have seen today, women bear almost all responsibility to meeting their family needs. However, they are being denied systematically from resources, information and freedom they need to fulfil these responsibility.
The fact is that, man still are blessed to have their opportunity to outrank women. Even the scientists also agreed that man is more intelligent than woman. As for instances, at the near genius level IQ of 145, brilliant man outnumber brilliant woman by eight to one. Another reason is that man has a natural advantage. That means, man are far more competitive and motivated for success than woman. Man typically are working harder, compete aggressively and will immersed in their career. That is why sometimes woman can't condemn some man to be more self-oriented and spending most of their time towards their career. Yet, that didn't put a barrier for women to be successful in their life and career. As we seen today, woman are more competitive and taking as many opportunities they can to achieve their dreams. Susan Greenfield is one of Britain's best known female scientists and can be an example for woman's succeess on gender equality today.
As the woman's opportunities arise, most woman are still deprived from reaching their equalities. In most countries, woman are still the vast majority of the worlds poor whether in developed or developing countries. Gender base discrimination comes along their way and it takes on many different forms including human rights, career and assets. Woman still suffer on gender based violence and even killed in the name of traditions. Woman also receive lower payment and benefits from their work compared to man, even when they perform the same tasks as men. Man also hold the majority of positions of power and decision making in the public sphere. Thus, the decisions are mostly reflecting the needs of man, not woman.
As the nations are on their way towards achieving gender equality, everyone should also take a step forward and change their mindset and traditions to make the world a better place to live in. Gender is a very fluid concept. Therefore, gender role, inequities and power imbalance are determined by the systems we live. Women have the right to call for their equality. By challenging the status quo and making social change, we can contribute to addressing gender equality.
