In this day and age, when divorce seems to be the norm rather than the exception, any couple who wants to renew their commitment to one another by renewing their wedding vows is a welcome change of pace. Whether you had a destination wedding and now just want to say your vows in front of your friends and family who couldn't make the trip or you have been married for years and want to celebrate your anniversary by reaffirming your commitment to one another, renewing the marriage vows is a fantastic way to celebrate your relationship.
Celebrating a special anniversary:
One of the many reasons that people decide to renew their vows is to celebrate a special anniversary. Making it to 10 years or 15 years in a society where divorce is so common is a huge deal and it should be celebrated. Sticking with each other and working through the good times and the bad times is a great reason to celebrate.
You have had some problems and now you want to reaffirm the relationship:
Lots of couples who have been through some rocky times and dealt with crisis like infidelity or separation and made it to the other side decide that they want to renew their vows the reaffirm their commitment to one another. This is commendable as it is often no easy task to work through your problems and stick it out.
You didn't have the money for the big wedding you wanted the first time around:
Lots of young couples who have to pay for their own weddings are unable to have the lavish and glamorous wedding that they may have wanted because they simply cannot afford it. Down the road a bit, when they are a little more financially stable, they may decide that they want a second chance at the wedding of their dreams.
You eloped and now you want to say your wedding vows publicly:
One of the most popular reasons to have a reaffirmation ceremony is that you eloped or had a destination wedding that the majority of your loved ones could not attend. Renewing your vows when you get home is a common and fantastic way to have the intimate wedding you wanted while eloping and then having all the fanfare of a big wedding when you return but minus the pressure because you're already married! Think of it as a big party in your honor!
