One of the most underutilized forms of marketing is the business card. While most people use it for its original intended purpose, sometimes it pays to be creative. In order to take yourself from being a salesperson to a sales superstar you have to take a little more time to consider the importance of even the most simplistic of tools at your disposal. While you may assume that you are using those tools correctly, many times you will find that simply weren't thinking creatively. Just consider marketing a little more the next time that you look at your business cards and you could see yourself using them in a variety of methods, such as below. In these methods, you are typically looking for after the contact leads. If you get leads from these methods, then the odds are highly likely that the customer is highly interested in what you have to offer and more often than not, they are going to purchase.
CARDS, CARDS, AND MORE CARDS...
Your business card is by far the most economic and useful marketing tool at your disposal. It doesn't cost you a thing, but for some reason they aren't given out nearly enough. Every single day you should place AT LEAST 5 business cards in your pocket and make an effort to hand those out throughout the day. They should be handed to people OTHER than your current prospects.
When handing these cards out, you should consider a means of drawing their attention to the card. By just simply handing them the card, it is highly likely they will simply misplace it or throw it away altogether. By giving them reason to look at the card, you are ensuring that they see what you are selling, what company you represent, and hopefully they will remember you for their future needs. One way to draw attention to your card is to write something on the back in front of them, whether it is a quick drawing, a discount offer, or even directions for someone that is lost. Your card should be used whenever you are giving notes, directions, or anything to anyone. Everyone should be considered a customer with potential. This doesn't mean they are a customer, but they have potential to generate business for you. By giving them your card they may either use it or give it to someone else that could.
CARD HANDING GIMMICKS
- When leaving your card at a restaurant as a tip, remember that most everyone leaves their card, so if you really want to make an impact, you have to give them reason to look at your card. To do this, you could fold up the tip and use paper clips
