A weekend is all you need to change things up a bit and add some spice to any room  in your home. One or two small changes in a room will make a large impact when done right. Plan what room you are going to work on and begin with the ideas below. Don't be surprised if you finish your room ahead of schedule and are able to make a change or two in another room. With the right combination of ideas, it's possible to add a little or a lot of spice to any room.

In the room of your choice, pull everything away from the walls, prime and paint. By Sunday evening, you have a new room. Hang new curtains or put slipcovers on furniture for a more subtle change. Rearrange pictures around your home; create eye-catching groupings on a focus wall.

Bathrooms are perfect for a two-day makeover. Strip the room down, repaint and bring in fresh accessories to complete the look. Add flowers, either fresh or artificial for an added splash of spice. When using artificial flowers, put them in clear vases or bottles with colored stones on the bottom.

In the kitchen, clean off the counters, display special pieces sparingly. Hang your good pots and pans from a rack to catch and reflect light. Change the knobs and pulls on cabinets, repaint walls if necessary. Hang a set of coffee cups near the coffee pot while using the unmatched cups to hold utensils and flowers. Adding flowers to any room is a fast and easy way to change the feel and look of the space instantly.

This is especially true for a bedroom. Use artificial flowers in flowers in the bedroom to prevent any possible allergy problems. Arrange the flowers in old tins, vases or baskets. Bring in groupings of candles for a soft romantic glow. Dig deep in the blanket chest for that beautiful bedcover that you have not seen in forever and remake the bed. Add a bed skirt and a few extra pillows. Lay a soft throw across the foot of your bed. Rearrange items on the walls and dressers for a quick fix.

It does not take drastic measures to spice up a room. Little touches can have a big impact when combined. Use a variety of the suggestions I have provided for a perfect weekend makeover. Pull accessories you have been storing and trade them for items currently in use. Rearranging furniture instantly spices up a space by transforming it from the ordinary. Use that old sideboard to divide a large space into two. Back your couch up to the backside of the sideboard. Whenever possible, trade pieces from one room to another.

This includes furniture, pictures, throw rugs and accessories. No matter which ideas you choose to use, make them your own. Do not overdo it though or your weekend could turn into a week or longer. Remember, a fresh coat of paint and a little remixing goes miles towards spicing up any space.
