The illiterate boys huddled around the table
For it was snap time for those who toiled
A complete generation who were never able
As their lofty ambitions were uniformly foiled
The room fills with stories of high heroism
As each individual recounts his finest deed
But we treat such yarns with great scepticism
As uttered by the lips of those who cannot read
Reverence and respect for their families is innate
Their underlying duty and steadfastness without doubt
As the hammer relentlessly smashes the steadfast slate
It would be foolish to call this boy a foolish lout.
