It is bad enough for an adult, why would you allow a minor to use one?

Lets take a minute to look at the good points to a tanning bed: vitamin D AND a tan.

Lets look at the bad points: bad for your skin, does not mix well with all medication.

Now I can see why a woman would want to use a tanning bed. It has nothing to do with the Vitamin D, it is all to do with looking good. Personal appearance! We use tanning beds, because ours skin is so pale and we have come to an understanding, that a tan makes us look better than our normal skin. Some tans do look nice, but we all know that it is not our natural self, so what have we achieved. In some cases, a tan actually looks terrible. People do it too often and they almost look orange or way too dark and they just look stupid. The tan makes you feel confident when you are showing your legs or any part of your skin and gives you the confidence when with a partner, that you are all the same colour.

So why would we start our minors, on the obsession of having to have a tan. Do we want them to start feeling comfortable with baring more of their skin? Do we want them to want to attract more attention? Do we want them to start being shallow and vein and judging people on appearance level only? Well I should hope that this is not what we want and therefore there is no need to allow your minor to use tanning beds. The tanning bed, psychologically, is just teaching them to become another object for a man to look at and think of as pleasure. Just like too much make-up. With hormones rushing around them and loads of attention they get, from men who are trapped by their older looking appearance, leads to untold harm and we really do not want this. Parents should think more about the ways in which their minors are reacting to things and pay attention to how they are dressing and appearing. No one wants to treat them like baby's, but they also don't want to treat them like an adult, because they will act like one. Now we know what adults get up to, because we are adults.
