Falling leaves are messengers of a new season,
Heralding the last gasp of the old dying year,
They flutter and flail with no rhyme and no reason,
Except to announce that cool weather is near.
They paint a bright carpet all over the ground,
A strikingly beautiful sight to behold,
Where spatters of paint from God’s brush can be found,
In the landscape of colors so daringly bold.
They snuggle up to pumpkins out in the field
Like a colorful quilt of Nature’s designs,
The gourds in their harvest surrender their yield,
As earth dresses in Autumn’s garments she finds.
It is the season of change as Fall takes a deep breath,
And moves on towards a cold wintry scene,
There is so much beauty in the falling leaves death,
With a promise that new life will come with the Spring.

Poetry: Falling leaves
It's been a delirious spring,
And an arduous summer.
The leaves deserve to fall.
They tease the ground with,
A slow, wayward
I watch the falling leaves
Vivid yellows, oranges and reds
Dropping lazily
After a busy autumn season
Of changing colors
Tiny brown corpses
rattling at the door
covering the porch boards
three inches deep or more.
Little shriveled hands

The wind whisper to the trees
Oh no it might be a kiss
For the trees giggle in delight
Shaking its branches in the moonlight
by Jules Wrenne
The distant hill blazes now
with vibrant flames that won't be damped
by dousing autumn rains
but surely
