Each night as a servant I light the shamash,
My Chanakuh observance begun.
I light the candles all in a row,
One by one by one.
My dreidel says Nes Gadol Haya Sham,
A great miracle happened there,
As for eight long days in the temple,
Burning oil scented the air.
The menorah’s illumination is for the house without,
Reminding all those who will see,
That we express thanks and praise to Your great Name,
Your wonders, Your salvations, Your mercy.
On the last day, Zot Chanukah, for Your love I repent,
As the barchot blessings having been said.
I do this out of love for You
As the prayers of our faith are read.

Lights of the Heart
Candles of tradition
hopes lit with moments
of sacred prayer for all life's blessings
in the flames of glory.
Survival
Weeping souls
The shadows glided through
the pillage of the village
leaving behind not a sign of identity
the victims in agony
