When thinking of Halloween, most people immediately think of pumpkins and witches.  Perhaps you enjoy the wonderful candy that Halloween brings, or love dressing up for the occasion.  This Halloween, dress up your house inside and outside as well!

Dress up your house, literally.  Make your garage into a mouth by adding jagged teeth draping down from the top and teeth bottom of the opening.  If you do not have a garage, then the same can be done for the front door.  Conform your windows into eyes by placing red lights in the middle of two side by side windows, and consider using large decorative spiders as eye lashes.  Also, make sure to switch out your porch light bulb for either a red light or a black light to provide that eerie cast for the trick-or-treaters. 

Inside of your home, keep your Halloween decorations classy by altering the feel of your home instead of only the decor.  Light candles and keep lamps and overhead lights turned off.  Have an indoor carved pumpkin as well as an outdoor pumpkin, then you can enjoy your creative work of art.  Consider placing a centerpiece on your coffee table or dining table.  If you want to go creepy, place a skull in the middle of the table flanked with candles. If you get red gems or marbles to place around the skull, the candles will make them glow creating your spooky aura.  Each little touch added throughout your house will make your home echo with screams.

If you will be having guests over to aid in eating your Halloween treats, you must decorate your bathroom.  Take a red window paint and add a little water so that it is runny, then write on your bathroom mirror "Happy Halloween!"  If you test the paint on a smaller area of your bathroom sink and find it will come off easily, drip lines of the red paint into the middle of the sink.  The bulb for your main source of light can be replaced with either a low light bulb or a black light, and even the bathroom will be a Halloween experience to remember.

Decorating your house for Halloween is an indoor and outdoor experience.  By letting your creative juices flow to the exterior of your home, you are able to share the fun with the neighborhood instead of only your family.  This year as you begin to think about picking out your costume, also think about how you will dress your house.
