“I don’t care what you say, I don’t want to!” Yelled Vanessa, a twenty-year-old college student, with a boisterous and flamboyant personality. Her mother was telling Vanessa she wanted Vanessa to learn the piano. They had just inherited a black shiny baby grand piano from Vanessa’s grandmother. “Vanessa, you will love the piano! I think you will regret it if you don’t take lessons! I’m going to arrange for them!” Said her mother Annie.
Reluctantly, Vanessa took piano lessons. Her teacher was a handsome fellow named Harry. He was thirty and about six feet tall. Immediately they had a mutual attraction, and they shared an avidly flirtatious rhetoric. Because of her attraction to Harry, Vanessa found she was distracted, and encountered difficulties learning. “It’s really very simple and basic! First you learn the white keys, and then the black keys.” Commented Harry. He sat extremely close to Vanessa on the piano bench. Vanessa felt nervous and timid, not her usual self. “Okay, I’ll try!” Blurt Vanessa. Eventually she caught on, and within weeks, Vanessa was playing simple tunes.
After several months of playing basic tunes, it was time for Vanessa to accomplish learning chords with her left hand. Chords brought the sound of music all together, and Vanessa was excited. The melodic sounds she could create were electrifying to Vanessa’s ears. “I think you are moving along quite nicely!” Said Harry. “I think so, too!” Blurt Vanessa. Vanessa had amorous feelings towards Harry, and he had a penchant for Vanessa too. It was something they both were hesitant to explore.
A few more months went by, and Vanessa was becoming adept at playing the piano. Harry was very complimentary. “I think you have caught on quite fast, Vanessa. Maybe in the future, you might be interested in performing at a recital!” “Oh, I don’t think so!” She replied.
Vanessa and Harry tried to forgo acting upon their attraction to one another. It was interfering with the lessons. Yet finally one day, Harry got up the nerve and said, “I am very attracted to you, Vanessa! And I was wondering if you would like to go out some time?”
