Christian reactions to the allegations against Bishop Eddie L. Long

I have to say something concering this man of God, who I have never met a day in my life, but the words I have heard come out of his mouth have been very inspiring. First off no matter what happens, Bishop Eddie Long will always be a man of God in my eyes. Christianity is not about being perfect but allowing what Christ did for us on the cross; be a perfect sacrifice for our mess. It is past time where we put the man or woman of God on a level where sin is not possible for them. That is called humanism, where we rely more so on our own human efforts than on the mercy, grace, and power of God. I can tell you that God is going to use this situation for His glory, because there are many hurting people in this world who will not come to God because we in the church have set the standard high. How are we going to save and reach the world when we encourage people that they must clean themselves up before they come to God. I am so tired of going to church and being preached into hell every Sunday by the people of God who personally have their own issues that they are dealing with. When are we going to be real?

I have heard it said that many people know that God "can" save but they do not know if He "will" save. Why, because we have told people, sinners, and the world that God will only bless certain types of people. Many want to come to God, but really believe that because of their sin God does not want them. I am preaching the good news of the gospel that Jesus died on the cross for the entire world. I am not perfect but I serve a perfect God. I have many different issues that I am currently dealing with, and much of them I am afraid to discuss openly. However does this disqualify me to be saved or preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I care not about this situation with Bishop Eddie Long because I have been completely forgiven of all my sins. I have been to prison six times, and anyone who has ever lived a life of crime knows that there is plenty of stuff that we have done that we have never got caught for. Some stuff I am greatly ashamed of, so if God was to expose me, all I can say is that I told y'all.

Jesus said that he who has been forgiven much loves much. I reach out to people no matter what they are dealing with, because I can remember being in prison so lonely wishing to God that somebody would just reach out to me. Jesus is our example and Jesus loved people especially those who were going through some very rough times. A bruised reed He will not break and a smoking flax He will not quench. Thank the Lord that God is not like us, His mercy is new every morning and great is His lovingkindness.

I just want to say this one more thing, please do not use this situation as a reason not to come to God. Listen take it from me, the world has nothing to offer. The devil really does desire to sift you like wheat, his will is to kill, steal, and destroy; but Jesus desires to give you life, a real life. God bless you brother Long and whatever you do, don't let the devil trick you into no longer preaching the Word of God!
