Game website reviews: Pogo.com

Pogo Games is currently one of the most popular online gaming sites. At any one time, thousands of players from around the world are playing and chatting on the site. While it started out as a small, nearly-unknown site, it's grown significantly over the years and now offers over 100 games and other features. Most of these games aren't complex at all and range from well-known solitaire games to the fast-paced time management game, Crazy Cakes. It's perfect for the casual gamer looking to kill a few minutes on a break.

While everybody who signs up for an account can play, certain features and games are only available to members who buy a monthly or annual subscription. If you find yourself playing regularly, it's a cheap entertainment choice compared to eating out or a movie.

There are many features in addition to the games offered, many of which are only available to members.

Badges: If you’re a member, you’ll be able to join in in weekly challenges. These reward you with a badge if you complete the challenge. And, if you don’t mind spending a few extra dollars, you can go for the premium badges. Game award badges can be won at any time and are also related to some challenge you must complete. All of these go into your badge album which you can check anytime near your profile. Badges don’t provide any benefit other than bragging rights though.

Ranks: Not all games have rankings but most do. Often, there’s a total of 50 ranks in each game. To rise in ranking, you must complete a certain objective numerous times. Just like badges, there’s little benefit other than bragging rights.

Minis: Each member has a character avatar called a “Mini”. If you go to Pogo’s “Mini Mall”, you can buy various items with tokens or gems. There’s clothing, backgrounds, pets, and more. There's an almost infinite number of ways to customize your mini.

Cash and Prizes: A few people play because they're trying to win a jackpot. Once you complete some condition of each game, you'll get a jackpot spin and you'll have a very small chance to win up to $5000. Pogo also offers daily, weekly, and monthly drawings for cash or prizes. Each game you play will award you tokens and you can exchange these for entries into these drawings. In my opinion, though, this is a ridiculous reason to play. I've put thousands of hours into Pogo's games and have never won anything. Enter any of the chat rooms and almost everybody will tell
