Spooky Halloween dinner party ideas

Planning a spooky Halloween dinner party can be almost as enjoyable as the party itself. It is fall and nearing Halloween so you more than likely have all your decorations put up. Your first step is already complete.

Your menu is your next important step. The menu should be familiar; in that, try not to make something you’ve never made. You can enhance favorite foods to take on the mood of your spooky Halloween dinner.

At the beginning of your day, prepare a roast and put it in a crock pot. Add all your vegetables including potatoes. Another menu item will be garlic biscuits. No need to make them; simply buy regular frozen biscuits at the grocery. You will make green, melted garlic butter later.

Prepare your table. Your tablecloth could be black, brown, orange or red. Use cheese cloth for place mats. Cheese cloth can be cut and stretched quite easily and looks a lot like a spider web. Your place mats don’t have to be perfect. Remember, this is supposed to be spooky.

Make a quick centerpiece by using dried twigs, small gourds and battery operated pillar candles. Drape them with spider webs by stretching webbing over everything. As you arrange these items, remember you have to turn your candles on later, so make it easy for yourself. Add spiders to the web so they look as though they are crawling across your centerpiece.

Go ahead and use your every day dishes if you don’t have autumn or Halloween motif dishes. Napkins can be regular paper napkins but do buy large, black dinner napkins. Take the time to wrap your silverware in these napkins. For napkin holders, use red ribbon and tie loosely around your utensils.

Unless you have fall or Halloween motif glassware or stemware, use your everyday glasses. You can purchase inexpensive Halloween glasses if you like however. It will only add to the charm of your dinner party.

Once your table is set, toss a few spiders and bugs across the table. Let them land on the dinner plates too. One other fun thing to do at your dinner table is put out an extra place setting. Everyone will wonder if they have a ghostly guest but this is a dinner game.

Set the mood for your spooky Halloween dinner party. Play ghoulish Halloween sounds. Keep the sound low however, it is spookier this way.

Using fall and Halloween decorations you may already have around your home; go ahead and add a few enhancements. String spider webs across battery operated candles or pumpkins and gourds. Add a black light in the bathroom. Take
