To have a vision for your business all important. Without a clear idea of what you want the future to look like, you won't be able to achieve your dreams. Sure, you could have the generalities of what you want, but without a concrete plan, you might as well give up. Because business isn't about who works the hardest, or has the best handwriting, or even who's the smartest. Running a business is all about those that can see the big picture, and see how all the pieces in the puzzle come together long before it's completion.
If you can see how a project can be done, it will be done. The hardest part of running any business is creating the ideas required for it all to work together smoothly. After that, it's all technicalities that can easily be worked through. Motivation, and a dream for the future, that's all that is required to make one's dreams a reality. Working toward many smaller, realistic goals is a good way to accomplish this. Say you are building a house.
You don't try and build the house all at once, do you? No, you have a grand vision for what the house will be; marvelous pillars and well sculpted ceilings. But you have to start somewhere, and work hard on that piece of the house, if only to get ever closer to that completed vision. The house, just like your business, needs to have a solid foundation, upon which you can work toward that vision of the future that will one day become a reality.
But, the most important part about having a vision? The dedication, the hard work, and the time you have to put in to it. You only get out what you put in to something, and in the case of those spectacular visions of the future, you'll need to put in a lifetime of hard work. But what you will get out, will be completely worth it.
