Creating interactive bulletin boards is a great way to get students involved with their learning. Bulletin boards can be used for more than just aesthetics, as an interactive bulletin board can transform any lesson from auditory to visual and kinesthetic in mere moments.
School children can gain a measure of ownership over their education by having them personally involved. Tips for creating interactive bulletin boards are readily available on the Internet, so long as you have a motif in mind. If not, here are some examples that may be worthwhile for your particular classroom.
Children tend to have low attention spans, and therefore the teacher must engage them early on for fear of losing their interest early on in the lesson. Interactive bulletin boards allow the teacher to grasp the attention of the students, and then allow them to take the lesson a step further on their own, which will enhance their knowledge, comprehension, and understanding of the lessons prepared by the teacher.
For elementary school children, where bulletin boards are multi-functional, you can host myriad different themes, all focused on expanding further on concepts delivered via curriculum. For the different seasons, sounds associated with that season could be pre-loaded on a CD, and played when the corresponding button is pressed on the bulletin board.
This board can be fascinating for younger children during story telling time, when the sounds of roaring thunder or gusting winds can accentuate the penetrating rain coming down. As the children help to make the bulletin board, using arts and crafts, they will take a healthier interest in the material being provided.
Researching on the computer can help them to find out more about the climate in which they live, and they may even be encouraged to perform a dramatic play that incorporates the bulletin board.
Different holiday celebrations can be included in the interactive bulletin boards as well. For instance, during the Christmas season, the children could be responsible for drawing or cutting out pictures that tell the story of a particular Christmas song.
The songs could be at the ready on the board with the touch of a button to go along with each visual story created by the children. Class participation will undoubtedly improve when interactive bulletin boards are being created.
