Hope Amidst Despair
I waited for someone to look my way
To save me from pain of another day
The eyes that looked back were strangely alone
Where torment of the soul had painfully grown.
Not knowing a direction I began to run
and out of the dark the shadows had come
They've taken hold I can no longer breath
I slip into the darkness with joy and ease.
What does it matter? There is so much pain here
Something traumatic every single year.
I am sick and tired but have to hold on
For my children I will continue too move along.
Families are growing a new life is near
I need to stay, I need to face my fear.
Step back from the shadows and slam the door
Before eternity grips and freezes my core.
I'll keep looking ahead and try not to drown
When I know there is darkness always around.
I'll stay another day and give what I can
The darkness I feel will be lifted in the end.
I glimpsed the peace that waits for me there
This gives me hope amidst despair.
