How our faith helps us

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen, according to Hebrews 11:1, in the Bible.

In reference to this Bible verse, how can our faith help us then?

A perfect example of the magnitude of our faith's ability to help us can be shown in the Bible, in Matthew 17:20, He replied, “ Because you have so little faith, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” This scripture passage shows us that faith can give us the victory and power here on earth, to lead a fulfilling life.

Today, our world is filled with war, famine, natural disasters, diseases, and death. But as the Bible points out in the Bible verses found in 1 John 5:3-5, that when you believe in Jesus as the Son of God, which is our faith, you can overcome the world.

How can our faith help us overcome the world?

First of all, the definitions of the word overcome means that we gain the victory or win. Our faith in terms of victory over the world would mean that we believe we are able to successfully live a good and fulfilling life on earth. On the other hand, a person who doesn't have faith is vulnerable to the world and the many elements that can consume and overwhelm their lives. Therefore, these people would not be able to rely on faith to overcome the world.

The next question may be how do you know you have strong faith?

The Bible says in Mark 11:23, “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, “Go throw yourself into the sea’, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.”

When a person has faith that Jesus is the Son of God, they believe that God, because of his love for us, sent his only son, Jesus, to save us through his death and resurrection. The more you rely upon your faith to help you overcome adversity in life, the stronger your faith will get.

Romans 8:37 says, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

The definition of the word, conqueror, according to the dictionary is someone that overcomes and is victorious.

Subsequently, based on the definition of the term conqueror, we too can be victorious with our shield of faith as pointed out in Ephesians 6:16, that says “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench
