A fragrance, a song, a certain place, all of these can trigger memories of your first love. It may have happened 10, 20, or more years ago, but you can see your first love's face as clear as the day you first fell in love. Why is it people can continue on with their lives, be happily married, but still never forget their first love?

Holding On to the Memories

Whether you first encountered love as a young person or past the bloom of youth, when you knew the person was your first love you felt a feeling of euphoria, your face had a certain glow. Yes, this was the person who you, at the time and some actually did, wanted to spend your life with forever. Could it be people want to hold on to the original feeling their first love provided them especially if now they are enduring a bad relationship?

There are many reasons a person may not forget their first love. Some reasons emotional, others are physical, but all of the reasons are special because the person was the first that you had the opportunity to experience these things, whether emotional or physical, or both, with. They made you feel confident, complete, ready to face all challenges the world could throw at you. Yes, every moment with a first love is like that, unforgettable. So why not hold on to the memories?

An Anchor Through Hard Times

Even though the years have passed, you still feel a rush of emotion when thinking of your first love. Have you noticed you don't recall the negative side of the relationship? Can you easily remember why your first love ended in the first place? Probably not.

First loves are romanticized. There was never a bad moment in them. When challenged with a recent heartbreak we may fall back on the memory of our first love. Or maybe, when in between relationships holding on to the memory of a first love sustains us to press ahead to find a new love. This could be another reason some people do not forget their first love. It provides an emotional anchor for them to help them get through rougher times.

Why do people never forget their first love? That is a good question with many answers. Only each individual truly knows the reason why. And they will probably have a smile on their face when telling you why they won't forget their first love.
