College personnel should not punish marijuana smokers more severely than underage drinkers. College punishment should be the same for both, because, however you look at the situation, marijuana and alcohol are both drugs. College is a place for education, along with experimentation. It is a place where students are establishing their educational credentials. Basically, it’s a fresh, new world for acceptance. Just about everyone wants to belong to something or fit in somewhere. Drug use will very much be displayed and used on and off campus grounds.
For decades drugs have plagued students. It is clear and obvious that the drug is a crutch to hold up the weight from existing or past problems. Therefore, if college personnel punishes a student for marijuana usage and underage drinking. Those students need to be referred to drug counseling. Parents and students work hard to pay for college expenses. Who has money to throw it away on experimenting with curiosity?
Keep in mind that drinking is advertised and promoted from liquor stores(corner stores) and bars(nightclubs) and of course, commercial advertising. This should be considered when delivering punishment to college students. An addiction can surely destroy futures, while supporting the drug suppliers.
There is another drug addiction, such as,(pill popping), which lurks in the shadows on college campus grounds. Again, I say punishment for drug use, regardless, if it is legal or not, should deem to be equal. Nine times out of ten people say that they use drugs for relaxation. Almost all cigarette smokers agree that inhaling a cigarette calms their nerves. Well, guess what? Cigarettes are drugs. A drug is a drug, regardless, if it’s legally taxable.
Fairness is not always so, that is why our voices matter and it's required to push for fair judgment. Life is not easy to cope with. And our social status may help or hinder a person’s stability. College students have to be careful, who, they choose to hang out with. Following the wrong crowd can hinder a person from prospering. Therefore college punishment can either help and diffuse drug use in college, or it can expose a serious drug addiction among its students.
Marijuana smoking and underage drinking has been inherited from generations. As long as drugs continue to flood the world, it will continue to equally find its way among college students. College punishment need to be equal among all students.
