Twitter has grown in leaps and bounds since its debut in 2006.  Over the past few years the rapid growth has been nothing short of miraculous.  It has moved far beyond the concept of a social network and micro-blogging platform to become a gigantic community.  But what are the ways to make the most of this Twitter?

•  Learn to Network  

Twitter is all about networking.  You need to get out there and find people that have similar tastes to yours.  By doing this you will constantly expand your “followers” and grow within this community this will grow your reach and make you a valuable addition to the Twitter community.

•  Make the most of Twitter with Twitter Tools  

Adding to your network and following people can become a hassle.  Fortunately there are a lot of tools out there that have been developed.  They can help you to manage the friends you have.  Automatically follow and unfollow.  Schedule tweets and a heck of a lot more.  Here are a few of the best programs to help you with twitter.

•  Build your list  

A lot of the above programs are differing ways to build your twitter list.  It is often desirable for many people to have a large Twitter list.  Many people will follow you back if your follow them.  A common practice is to follow a large group of people and unfollow many of them if they are still not following you after a few days.

On the opposite side some people believe that quick building of lists like this can just generate more, “noise” and more care should be taken when finding people to follow.  Whether going for quantity or quality growing your reach on Twitter can be a very useful.

•  Free Traffic  

One of the main reasons many people want to grow a large twitter following is the potential for free traffic.  With a large following your interesting articles and blogs can be tweeted and perhaps retweeted again and again by your network.  Of course this takes loyal followers rather than just blind followers.  But even blind followers may visit your links.  With a large enough list even a 1% follow per tweet could be some nice additional
