Types of workouts to add to your routine for improved results

When you have a workout routine you have been doing for quite some time, you may realize you start to plateau. The results that you once saw from your exercise regime no longer seem to be working. Your body begins to get used to the exercises and they are not as beneficial.

Change it up

If you have been doing the same cardio for months the benefits slowly will diminish. To start getting benefits out of your cardio exercises again try something new. Instead of running you can try swimming. If you are taking a Zumba class three times a week switch to a spinning class. This will work different muscles and challenge your heart to work harder.

Within each cardio workout you are doing add intervals. If you are running, sprint for thirty seconds to sixty seconds and return to your normal pace. You can incorporate this technique into any type of cardio: swimming, biking or walking.

Boot camp

The army has great exercises you can incorporate into your routine.  Doing simple exercises will bring your fitness to the next level: jumping jacks, burpees and push-ups as a few examples. Doing high intensity exercises increases both your heart rate and strength. 

Doing a boot camp schedule of exercises helps one improve muscular strength and speed. These are power exercises that will put more strain on your joints and muscles. Be careful starting a routine with this force so you do not injure yourself.

Stretching

Stretching is an important part of any exercise routine. It improves your flexibility and helps prevent injury. Whatever exercise you choose to do stretch ten to fifteen minutes after your workout.  Stretching when your muscles are warm will be of more benefit.

Nutrition

The food you eat will help you be healthier and improve your fitness. Depending on what your goals are, nutrition is important when working out. For someone building muscles the food that should be consumed will be very different from someone who is trying to lose weight. Take the time to research what types of food you should be eating to best help you reach your fitness goals. Hiring a nutritionist can be a great addition to help you reach your fitness level.

Improving your fitness is easy if you are determined and have the dedication to reach your goals. Keep in mind to keep your fitness routine fresh, change it up awhile and challenge yourself.
