A winter white bridal gown trimmed in iridescent sequins, glimmers in the light as the bride swiftly makes her way from the church to her wedding carriage on the arm of her groom!
These tiny sun-catchers radiate all the colors of the rainbow, thus picking up on every possible hue chosen for the bridesmaid's gowns.
Silver and gold, as well as candy-cane red and holly green, are traditionally used at holiday time to celebrate the joy of sharing time with family and friends. And, weddings are times of joy, as well, whether the date is set for Christmas or New Years, or not!
Gem tones can be described as being both bold and beautiful, - sapphire blue, emerald green, ruby red, and warm topaz. When chosen to compliment the creme colored gown in winter, topaz can not be surpassed for elegance! And, the sapphire and green? Cool colors, both! Use them with WHITE!
When a bride selects the color theme for her happy day, she may chose to use the colors she loves best. There are definitely no hard set rules as to what is politically correct. But, for those future brides who wish to exude a fashion statement in keeping with the winter season, the aforementioned can be useful parameters.
Flowers are always a focal point of color in any wedding and the selection of type is just as important as their color. Red or white poinsettias are all about Christmas, of course, and churches will generally donate them for weddings performed around this lovely holiday.
Wreaths with red velvet or satin ribbon may be in place, as well as (possibly) a delicately decorated evergreen. (My son and daughter-in-law married on New Year's Eve and it really helped them save on flowers for the church!)
Even when the date of the big day precludes December 25th or January 1st, evergreens are still a nice touch for both the church and the reception centerpieces. Candles centered in a ring of evergreen (especially for an after-dark reception) will add that touch of romance and elegance that your guests will be certain to notice and appreciate!
Carnation bridesmaid bouquets touched off with a sprig of baby's breath can be a lovely (cost-effective) choice. Carnations can be dyed any color...
For the bridal bouquet - the most important floral centerpiece of all! - a half dozen or so red roses surrounded with white (or creme) chrysanthemums the ones with the little bursts of fireworks) gives the impression of snow falling.
Colors do not have to be pure or primary, teal (a shade of blue-green) is another alternative for winter and becoming increasingly popular.
Whatever colors are chosen, the idea in winter is to be BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL!
