Using keywords effectively in articles helps the search engine spiders crawl the web page easily. When the web page is crawled easily, it gets indexed easily too. Therefore, one needs to learn how to use keywords cleverly in articles.
The placement of keywords within a web page is called Keyword Prominence. The number of times your targeted keywords or phrases appear on a web page compared to the total number of words is referred to as Keyword density. Keyword Frequency, which is often confused with Keyword Density, refers to the number of times a certain keyword appears on a web page.
To use keywords in an article effectively, you need to keep a balance among the foregoing things. You should never place keywords everywhere on the page or mention your targeted keywords excessively.

The Title Tag
The title tag is the name given to a web page. The title tag is what you see in the search engine results. It is that hyperlink you click on to visit a web page. The title tag is paramount because it tells the search engines about the topic of your page. Therefore, you need to use your most important keywords there. When you do that, your article web page is apt to appear in the search engine result pages (SERPs).
Meta Tag
The Meta tag is the description of a web page. It appears under the title tag in SERPs. If you are writing articles for article directories like Ezine, the Meta tag is usually the beginning of your article. For example, this article is written for Helium. I have no control over the Meta tag of the website. In this case, the Meta tag of the web page this article is in will be the beginning of my article: “using keywords effectively in articles helps the search engine spiders crawl the web page easily.
