Classic board games allow families to spend quality time together, at a reasonable cost. These board games are far cheaper then a day trip to a theme park and are perfect for rainy days. Best of all these board games teach lessons in a fun way, which is also good. What makes these classic board games so great?
Monopoly is a great board game that has brought families together for generations. This game allows family members to purchase properties and upgrade them. Of course, there are bonuses and 'bills' in this game with the community chest cards. This can be played as a timed game or an all out winner takes all type of game. It's perfect for a cold winter afternoon or a rainy summer day when the kids are stuck inside. There are many versions of the game that families can choose.
Candy Land is another game that has been helping families with young children have quality time together for generations. The premises of the game is simple enough for young children to understand and the challenge of the right moves keep them entertained as they race around the candy land board.
Trivial Pursuit allows families who enjoy trivia to play a board game. There are many versions of this game so it can be for all ages to enjoy no matter their interest. This game does have small circles which small pie shaped pieces are inserted as a player answers the trivia question correctly. The original version has six different areas of trivia hence the six pieces of pie, but the specialized versions may be more suitable for your family.
Scrabble is a fun family game that allows players create words from titles they draw. This one is better for older children and adults as sometimes it can be a challenge. Each of the tiles used to create the words have a different amount of points associated with them and these points are added up to get the score when you place the words.
Life is a board game with high money values, and it's perfect for teenagers. The players land on a career path that determines their payday. Children are born, and if too many are born then another car moves around with the player to hold the children. This game goes quickly and it fun to play.
There are tons of games on the market today but these five are classics that have endured through the years, and brought millions of families together for quality time.
