Backlinks, inbound links, inlinks, incoming links or inward links are links to a web page posted on other pages.  Backlinks from reputable websites are referred to as quality backlinks.  The number of backlinks indicates the importance of a website or page.  Google interprets links as votes.  When reputable websites link to a page, they vote for it.

Internet marketers have been in contention about whether or not backlinks quantity is ineffective.  Some of them still believe that all links help.  However, all of them agree that quality backlinks improve your visibility on search engines sensationally well.  For this reason, there has been a need for learning how to get quality backlinks.  In this article, I am going to discuss some of the most effective ways to get backlinks from reputable websites.

Creative Hook

Creating a real creative hook is the most powerful way to get backlinks from reputable websites.  This is referred to as “Linkbaiting”.  Linkbaiting can be anything on your website that is designed to gather backlinks.  It can be an idea, a picture, a blog post, an article, etc.  Not any idea can be called Linkbait.  It must be original and creative.

For example, the owner of “Shoe Money System” website has a very clever idea.  Those who share the content of his website can enter a contest to win an iPad.  This is a very creative hook.  Internet users will surely spread the word about this special prize and share the website link on their blogs and websites.

You do not have to offer the same prize.  The key is to do something totally different from the rest of websites on your niche. 

Article Marketing

Article marketing is the practice of writing articles and submitting them to article directories.  A link to your website appears under every article you write.  There are reputable article directories that help you rank better.  Some of these are: Ezine Articles, Buzzle, Idea Marketers, Articledashboard and Expert Articles.

If you want to strive for better results, you can use a service to submit your articles to hundreds of article directories.  There are many services that can do that online.  With such services, you will not choose the directories yourself. Thus, one needs to be careful because your articles might be submitted to low-quality directories.
