How I Benefit from church-going with my family.
Church-going for family life is definitely a positive venture.I use the word venture for if someone really sees it as simply "church going" then it will take a lot out of you to get dressed and then dress 3-4 or more little ones ensuring everyone is fed and neat and ready to leave at the same time on a day when you should be resting.
For my family it is a
1.form of obedience to God and thus a kind of worship saying God I do want to meet with your family -my other many brothers and sisters.
2.in return God makes this experience of going to church worth while by teaching me, encouraging me, using us (my family)to encourage others and simply giving us a time out from the cares of everyday life even if it is only for an hour.
3. I have found that with my husband going to church and hearing the same messages gives us topics for discussion and even during the service there are moments when we hear or see things we can comment on silently with a look or otherwise and this helps us keep connected in a friendly sort of way.
4. Children learn valuable lessons about little things such as obedience and honesty and sharing etc., this impacts how that child will relate with these issues at home and can greatly help in our efforts to train our children in the right way.
I am able to make an analogy with family going to church and not doing so because I grew up in one where my father did not and there were numerous issues in our family life that were never resolved so much that we became a single parent family. My parents since I have the sense to know them have never seen them attend church together and never seen them connect as true friends. So with the topic in mind I do believe if we were attending church together there may have been a possible chance for changes thus keeping separation.
I can understand if you do not have a purpose for going to church and you are just going for the record . In this case there will be no motivation and especially when a spouse has to be heavily persuaded to make the "journey".
But you know what stick with it and keep praying each day that GOD gives YOU meaning/purpose for going and that he makes your spouse or child more willing to be with the family in church and guess what he will answer your prayer for he always does. Just do not be discouraged about going it will be the best thing for your family life.
You know God said that he honors his word(bible) above his name so this psalm sums it up nicely
Psalm 138:8 God will accomplish everything that concerns you he will not forsake the work of his hands and his mercies endureth forever.
