The Tiger Woods golf series has been going since the release of Tiger ’99 back in 1998 and has since grown in popularity and features over the years with each version outstripping its predecessor. Once the Tiger series took to the Wii with Tiger Woods ’07 the final boundary was crossed with the player becoming physically involved in the game as opposed to just stabbing at buttons.
The player can now truly interact with their character on screen leading to a much greater feel for what is happening in the game. This interaction has been enhanced even further now with the release of the long awaited Wii Motion-Plus which provides a reportedly one for one movement. This makes playing the shot even more realistic as you are now able to gain a greater control over what the club does and so what the ball flight will be like as well.
• Getting Started
As with most of the later versions of the Tiger Woods game you either choose from one of the golf celebrities already in the game like “Tiger” himself or new kid “Rory McIlroy” and for the ladies there are a number of player characters to choose from like “Paula Creamer” and “Nathalie Gulbis”, or you can create your own character. Your custom character can either be made up to resemble you or as outrageous as you like, and the level of detail in this version is far greater than in previous editions of the game. Despite the Wii’s obvious lower grade graphical capabilities in comparison to its big rivals the level of detail is still incredibly good and certainly has one of the best looks to it out of all the Wii games that I own.

Now unlike the controls for other platforms the Wii works mainly on motion which makes it prefect for games such as this. The control for all the different clubs is exactly the same firstly stand sideways onto your TV set hold the Wiimote in one hand and point it at the floor while holding the B button swing your arm away from the TV and then back towards the TV very much similar to that of a normal golfing swing. This action is very much closer to the real thing than most other simulator style games out there such as the infamous Real World Golf for the PS2 with its fantastic wire and glove arrangement.
