Like dogs and people, each cat has its own unique temperament, personality, behaviors and quirks. Be sure to research these before your quest for a feline companion begins.  If you are looking for a breed of cat that will make the best lap cat, the list below offers some good choices. These breeds are known for being laid-back, affectionate, and having friendly dispositions.  They are listed in descending order according the best attributes of affection and companionship. It has a low activity level, low independence, very high need to give and receive affection, is not very vocal, very docile, and gets along with children and other pets.

It has all the desirable characteristics of the above-mentioned lap cats plus a bit more playfulness.
