Fun in the Sun Should Include a Toddler Sun Hat
As the sun starts to shine more and the weather heats up, everyone wants to get outdoors and enjoy themselves. As wonderful as it is to get outside into the warm weather, it is also quite dangerous if we stay out there at great length. We all may take precautions by using sunscreen or wearing sun protective clothing, but that is not enough to protect us or our children. Young toddlers are far more susceptible to the damaging rays of the sun and more needs to be done to protect their skin. Apart from wearing sunscreen and covering more of their skin with clothing, all parents should ensure their children wear a toddler sun hat.
For parents, taking a trip outdoors with their children is always going to be a constant battle that continues until one part of the party are too worn out to continue. Between trying to put on long-sleeve clothing to cover up body parts, or trying to smear sunscreen lotion all over their body, the results almost always include getting goo on clothing and other body parts that don't need the sunscreen. In the rush to get the children all ready for getting out the door, parents usually forget to cover up the kids' head. Even though a toddler’s head is covered in hair, having direct sun-light on the head is still dangerous for the possibility of skin cancer.
A toddler sun hat can protect the head by blocking out nearly a 100% of the UVA/UVB rays it comes into contact with. It is also crafted with special fabrics that are tightly woven together which offers a Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of 50+, putting it into the category of excellence for sun protection. The sun hats are designed to cover not only the top portion of the head, but the surrounding areas, including the scalp, face, ears, and neck of the child.
There are several side benefits to wearing one of these specially crafted hats:
- it adds more protection to the face (but it does not replace sunscreen on the face)
- it will shade the eyes, eliminating the squinting and protecting them from damage.
- in the summer heat, a hat will keep them cool
- they can be fun and fashionable when matched up with swimwear, and who doesn’t like dressing up their toddler?
Choosing the best sun hat for your toddler can be a chore, but there are several different things to think about. When you put the hat on the child, first, make sure the hat is comfortable for them to wear. Getting their advice on this will
