Prayer is merely a fancy word for communicating with God. It requires no posturing or special techniques other than sincerity and communication from the heart.
We may or may not speak our prayers with our mouths all the time, but it doesn't matter because God knows when we are communicating with Him.
God responds when we draw near to Him. (James 4:8) He can communicate with us in limitless ways which can be double-checked by aligning what we believe He is communicating to us with the scriptures. If it doesn't line up with the scriptures we cannot rely on it.
When God communicates, it won't bring condemnation or make us feel condemned or hopeless, either. (James 3:17)
New Christians must establish a prayer life and get used to communicating with the Lord. Praying was awkward for me at first when I was a new Christian.
Yet, as time goes by and we invest our efforts in communicating with Him, it becomes second nature and the better we know Him, the more we find ourselves communicating with Him.
Having a regular time set aside just for spending with God is fine and yet - as Christians, we can find ourselves talking to Him off and on all day.
Taking a regular time to worship and praise Him is a good idea and it's best to start one's day this way.
People have reported that when they begin their day - taking a few minutes to praise and worship God, their day seems to go better and and they are better able to meet the unexpected challenges life brings.
The scriptures tell us to "pray without ceasing." When our relationship with God is well-established, we find ourselves talking to him and listening to His Spirit communicate with us, all day long.
God welcomes and loves for us to engage Him and He looks for genuine sincerity in the heart regardless of what we are approaching Him about. The scriptures tell us that man looks at the outward appearance, but that God looks on the heart. (1 Sam. 16:7)
I discovered that when we make efforts to engage the Lord in prayer with our hearts fervently involved, the Lord responds.
Quite frequently, many people tend to take a formal approach like they would if they were at work representing their company, or meeting with a famous person; using preset, careful or formal wording.
With God - on the other hand, it 's important to be naked and real with Him because He sees straight into our hearts, anyway. He already knows everything there is to know about us.
