Like all myths, the myth that women do not like sex does have it's basis in facts and in third world and developing countries it is still very relevant.
Most of the highly technological countries no longer have the conditions that caused this myth to come about and it's relevance in those countries is fading.
The reason the myth that women do not like sex is still relevant in other countries is due to three primary reasons - living conditions, religion, and the status of women in society.
Living conditions:
Women are not going to even be interested in sex or enjoy it if they are too tired. In many countries women work and take care of children all day long and even into the night. Men may go out and work long hours; but, when they get off work, they normally take time to "unwind" and relax. The woman does not have that luxury. She has to take care of the man and the household while he relaxes. She may not even get a full night's rest if she has to get up in the night with small children or has to get up early in the morning to get things ready for the family to start their day.
Lack of nutritious food. A women is not going to enjoy sex if she is worried about where the next meal will come from or if she is malnourished herself. Women worry about having enough food for themselves and their family. A worried women is not going to be interested in sex or enjoying it.
Lack of privacy. Very few women can really let themselves go when they are in crowded living conditions. They are worried about waking up others who are sleeping and worried about what others will think of them (especially, if the other people are parents or grandparents).
Access to medical care. A woman who is in poor health is not going to enjoy sex and if she is constantly worried about pregnancy and dying in childbirth, she will also be to worried to enjoy sex. Adequate medical care and birth control have alleviated this worry for many women today.
Religion:
In poorer countries, religion plays a larger part in the daily life of it's people. Poorer people are more likely to adhere to religious teachings than those in wealthier countries. Wealthier countries are also more educated and while they still believe in their religions; they are less likely to believe every single word and follow it's teachings in their day to day lives.
Many religions restrict sex to marriage; and then, only for procreation. They teach that women should not enjoy sex and that any woman who does enjoy sex is "bad".
