The Death of Christianity is not new. Christianity and other world religions began to fail a long time before the announcement that the tomb of Christ, with his bones, was found in Jerusalem. Science and religious dogma began to clash in earnest at the close of WWII. It is not that anything new was learned about Biblical teachings of Christ but rather the conflict arose between the fundamentalist belief that the Bible was an irrefutable, perfect, literal Word of God and the attaining of a higher education by a large percentage of the population.
Why do you suppose that the Catholic Church, for example, for hundreds of years forbade the reading of the scriptures and held Mass in Latin, well into the 20th Century. Ignorance was the tool of control of the faithful for almost two thousand years and continues to be an asset to those who wish to recruit 21st Century zealots worldwide. The Roman "sica" has simply been replaced by the "personal bomb belt" as the weapon of choice.
As a rational, educated, mainstream person you have two choices; Fundamentalist Religion or Science, you can't believe both. If you have already admitted to yourself that you believe part of the Bible and Science, religion has lost you already and your spiritual evolution will continue without the necessity of reading the words of people like me or remitting 10% of your income to God as if it were needed to maintain the upkeep of Heaven.
Is it really reasonable to believe that if the purpose of giving money to men representing God is to feed, clothe, house and heal the poor that God could not raise the needed cash in two thousand years to complete the task. Or maybe the goal is to "Spread the Word of God" to every corner of the planet. How much money and engineering does it take to put a big screen with cable feed into every village on the planet?
No, I simply look at the mansions and jets and cars of those who collect on the behalf of God and I think I know what Religion is about. After all, who is getting saved, fed, clothed or healed with the donations given to the Park Cities First Baptist Church in Dallas where a multi-million dollar parking garage protects the worshipers Lexus', Beamers and Benzs from the Wrath of God while they "worship" in the main building?
If, however you believe that the Bible is a perfect literal writing of the Word of God you should not get onto an airplane or turn on an electric switch much less change a light bulb for fear of gravity and electrocution. Anti-biotic
