The hot days of summer are gone and the breezy days of autumn are upon you. It’s a wonderful time of year, but it goes quickly. Here are some suggestions to get the most out of your autumn days.
This is a great time of year for bike riding. There are many great rails to trails places to ride your bike safely and experience nature at the same time. If you don’t have a bike, these trails are just as great for walking. Find trails near you at
Who said just kids go to pumpkin patches? There’s no reason why you can’t take a hayride to the patch and pick out the perfect pumpkin that can serve it’s usefulness from a jack o’lantern to a pumpkin pie to roasted pumpkin seeds.
Speaking of food, pick your own apples or peaches. Plan your strategy whether you are going to make pies or cake, or jam or butter or sauce or just eat them. Maybe you will decide to bring some to friends or family. Remember to get some cider. There’s nothing like fresh cider whether cold or heated.
If you wish to get into the spirit of the Halloween season, check out the haunted happenings in your area. Many theme parks are converted to a spooky, thrilling place during October.
This is the time of year of agricultural fairs and craft fairs and book sales and tag sales. There are so many things to do. A wonderful outdoor hobby that combines hiking and clue deciphering is letterboxing. You will be surprised to learn how many letterboxes are hidden near your hometown. If you are a sport lover, there are local soccer games and football games to watch or get some friends together and participate yourself.
Above all, this is the perfect time to take a ride in the country to see the beautiful trees. Just as every snowflake is different, every autumn is unique. Take a camera and picnic lunch with you. Savor the scenery; it won’t be this way too long.
