Why Brooks & Dunn are calling it quits after the Last Rodeo Tour in 2010
For over 20 years, Brooks and Dunn have ruled the field of country music duos. They have been the duo to beat in the music awards for years. This year marks the end of the legendary duo as Ronnie Dun and Kix Brooks go their separate ways. Even though Brooks and Dunn will not be a duo anymore, their music will continue on to entertain their fans for years to come.
Fans of the duo will greatly miss their shows and seeing them at the awards shows. While rumors abound about why Brooks and Dunn are splitting up, Ronnie Dunn has asked everyone to ignore them. He stated that it was simply “time to call it a day”. Dunn and duet partner Kix Brooks are on good terms and plan to stay that way.
20 years is a long time in the music business and both Brooks and Dunn have interests outside the music business. Ronnie Dunn loves racecars and is often seen at the racetracks watching races. Apparently, Dunn does not plan to become a racecar driver; he prefers to stay in the music business. It is entirely possible that we will see Ronnie Dunn come out as a solo artist.
Kix Brooks owns an interest in some grape vineyards and is looking forward to spending time learning the wine business. With the country music business changing so much in the last few years, Brooks felt that it was a good idea to have something to fall back on. Unlike Dunn, Brooks has not said whether he will stay in the music field.
The music of Brooks and Dunn runs the gamut from the wild and lively “Boot Scooting Boogie” to the soulful spiritual “I Believe”. It could be that after 20 years of music and awards, Brooks and Dunn may just want to do something different for a while. As country music entertainers, they have won virtually every country music award there is to offer.
Maybe the duo felt that they had achieved everything there was for them to achieve or were just tired of the constant travel and recording. It maybe that the world will never know the exact reason why Brooks and Dunn decided to call it quits. Like any two people that have spent so many years together, Brooks and Dunn have come to a crossroad in their relationship.
The fans that are so disappointed by the break-up of their favorite country music duo can take comfort in the fact that their music is readily available. While it is a shame that Brooks and Dunn have decided to split up as far as business goes, they remain friends. Moreover, friends realize that sometimes their paths lead them in different directions. So as fans, we need to respect their decisions and continue to enjoy their music.
